Sciatica is typically an impingement of the sciatic nerve, often at the spine and sometimes deeper in the glute. In most cases, it comes back to a pelvis that is not properly supporting the spine. When the glutes are not doing their job, the load shifts into the lower back. Over time, that compression can irritate the nerve and shut a person’s life down.
If you want a spine that lasts, you have to build the system that supports it. That means training the glutes in a way that integrates them with the pelvis and torso. It means organizing the body so force moves through it instead of getting stuck in it. That is where tools like @theleverageking come in. You are not just training legs. You are rebuilding structure.
Craig came to us after a herniated disc and severe sciatic nerve compression left him bedridden for four weeks. He said it plainly: “I herniated my disc with a severe sciatic nerve compression which left me bed bound for a total of 4 weeks unable to walk and work.” He had hospital visits, doctor appointments, pain relief, and even “a failed nerve root block injection.”
Nine days. Four total hours of Functional Patterns training with @stevie__menzies.
“In 10 days I have gone from not being able to stand straight or walk unaided to walking unaided with at times very little to no pain.”
From needing his wife to help him walk… to walking on his own. In the last clip, he is even running.
He also changed his inputs. “I have changed my diet. I now have no grains and no coffee and upped my water and red meat intake.” He trained at home between sessions. “I do my exercises at home when I am not training and this has made a massive difference to my home life.”
What matters most is this: “Stevie has taught me the reason behind training certain muscles… and the importance of it all in relating to not only improving my condition but to prevent this happening again also.”
This is not chasing pain relief. This is rebuilding the foundation so the problem does not keep coming back.
