Sam's FP Journey

Sam's FP Journey

At just 26, Sam faced constant lower back and shoulder pain after a decade of collegiate sports and traditional lifting. The wear and tear from years of field hockey and weight training left her with radiating discomfort and limited mobility.

In April 2023, she decided to make a change. Sam fully committed to Functional Patterns, attending twice-weekly sessions with @roxanna_barrios . She stopped all other forms of training to focus entirely on improving her biomechanics and addressing her dysfunctions.

The results speak for themselves. Despite not running once during this period—indoors or outdoors—her gait improved dramatically, thanks to the precision and consistency of FP training. Improved athleticism without running drills? That’s the power of Functional Patterns.

Pain levels:
* Low back: ❌ 6/10 (dull, consistent) → ✅ 0/10
* Neck and shoulders: ❌ 7/10 → ✅ 0/10

Here’s what Sam had to say:
“After 10+ years of field hockey and traditional lifting, I was left with radiating low back and shoulder/neck pain. Over the past year, working with Roxanna and Gabe has been a game-changer. My shoulder mobility has improved, and I experience little to no pain. I can’t thank Functional Patterns enough for providing a challenging environment to address dysfunctions and push for improvement. Excited for year two with FP!”

The takeaway? Consistency in Functional Patterns leads to measurable results. Improved athleticism, reduced pain, and better movement—all without traditional methods like sprinting or running drills.
