Benicio's Come Back

Benicio's Come Back

Benício is 12 years old and in a soccer game he suffered a head on collision, the result was a traumatic injury. There was a rupture of the patellar tendon associated with an edema in the bone marrow. The tendon which is about 3cm in width, only 0.5 remained.

The position of two doctors was that there was no choice but surgery. But Benicio’s father @fernando_barros.gyn managed to make an appointment with another doctor who saw that a small percentage of the tendon remained and then 40 days to stimulate the formation of collagen, reduce the inflammation and promote healing. So the got to work using FP training and protocols only.

The process involved a lot of dedication from everyone, his son spent a month without going to school to dedicate himself completely to his recovery. In August they had a assessment that showed that the tendon was being consolidated. In October Benicio entered his first jiu-jitsu championship after the injury and showed that the knee is no longer a problem, he won first place in jiu-jitsu and no-gi without taking a single point. “Thank you FUNCTIONAL PATTERNS, you gave life to my family when everything seemed lost.”

Great work here by @fernando_barros.gyn , Benicio and family for putting the work to help show that surgery should be the last possible option, not the first one.
